My Journey

Why I chose to become a counsellor

I first received counselling when I was at secondary school, at the age of 13. I have since, at various stages throughout my life, continued to have counselling. I know how hard it can be to take that first step on your counselling journey or to ask for help. I have always had a natural want to help others and am naturally a warm, friendly and open person. I am a compassionate person and enjoy listening to others. This has helped me throughout my journey. I made the decision to be a counsellor after my eldest child was in intensive care. I realised at this time there was little support available. I then decided to become a counsellor and started my counselling journey. I have a range of experience and continue to do personal development to improve my skills. I have worked with both adults and children in various roles throughout my working life however, my heart lies with counselling.
